Over the last decade, there has been a decrease in the number of metered and non-metered spaces available to those that work and shop in the downtown.
These reductions in available parking spaces and the high volume of traffic in the Downtown have created a challenge for everyone that depends on these parking spaces.
There are solutions to the parking problems and it is within our power to fix these problems.
In the past 10 years, the City of Meadville has:
-Bricked the pavilion on Market Square
-Took out stop lights and replaced them with stop signs
-Redirected traffic around the Diamond
-Rebuilt all the handy capped ramps throughout the city
-Turned a building in want of a great deal of repair into our beautiful City Building
-Tackled the problem of shopping carts
-Completely rebuilt North Street from the bottom to the top
-Tore down a 3 story parking garage
-And accomplished many other goals.
Parking must now be one of those goals. And seeing what the city can achieve, when it puts it's mind to something, we are confident that this goal, too, can be achieved.
